Mary Butt
Project Leader
Mary worked as a primary school teacher in Oldham for 30 years, establishing Groundbreakers in 2006, before leading the transition to a CIO in 2024. Mary delivers collective worship, workshops and lessons, in primary schools across Greater Manchester. Mary sits on the Oldham Standing Advisory Committee for Religious Education (SACRE) and leads worship, Messy Church and Worship for Everyone in her home church.
Dave Butt
Volunteer (Admin & Face-to-Face Schools Work)
Dave worked for 20 years as Deputy Headteacher in an inner city High School, previously working in other high schools for 11 years. Since ‘retiring’ he has volunteered with TLG (Transforming Lives for Good) at their Manchester Education Centre and is an Early Intervention coach.
Dave leads the Criccieth Holiday Club, a Scripture Union Event, every summer with Mary. Dave is an elder at Glenbrook Christian Fellowship, working three days a week for the church, he is currently chair of Living Stones Education Trust a charity working in North Manchester.
